Zine “Climate Crisis – Understanding the Present, Navigating the Future”

11.10.2024

By Lisa Poettinger

Supervisor: Dr. Anna Antonova

This zine is supposed to give an overview of the climate crisis and what it means in social terms to anyone interested - whether it is long-term activists and NGO workers, their friends and family who might be somewhat sceptical, or workers approached by climate activists. The climate crisis needs to be understood by the many, not just exclusive circles. This zine sets out to make accessible what the current climate crisis means for different communities, a Marxist understanding of how capitalism has shaped the environmental crises, how human psyche is entangled with it, and some of the existing strategies out of and within runaway climate change. It incorporates academic, (academic) indigenous, and activist thought and uses both text and many drawn pictures to convey a patch work of ideas. The zine seeks to connect the threads of environmental crises, capitalism, (neo)colonialism, oppression, as well as resistance, creativity, determination, and community confronting darkness and shaping something new.
