Our final project is a documentary film whose main theme deals with the role of science in international law, using the example of the Montreal Protocol for the protection of the ozone layer.

It is an interdisciplinary-scientific team work of our two disciplines, physics and law. For we both were longing for an better understanding of how science and law should be linked in for dealing with global environmental crisis like the ozone hole, climate change, pandemics or anything similar. And the chosen international law treaty, the Montreal Protocol of 1987, is an extraordinary example of successfully solving such crisis through international cooperation. In doing so, it was particularly important to us to make the audience aware of
the complexity of protecting the ozone layer and life on Earth in general. That is why we go deep into detail and do not stop at scientifically and legally as well as technically challenging questions. We wanted to get as close as possible to the core of current real life challenges that matter. By trying to build a bridge between the two great worlds, science and law, we hope with our film to maybe have an impact in the world of the Anthropocene for a life worth living in on Earth.
