Student Day 2020

A day on interdisciplinary methodologies in research

24.01.2019

Last semester the idea of a "student day" on interdisciplinary methodologies in research came up. The idea behind the event is to promote/enhance interaction between doctoral and certificate students and to learn about interdisciplinary research approaches.

Many had interest in such an event, and now we're happy to announce the kick-off of a planned series of Interdisciplinary Methodology Tutorials on 24 January.

What is it about?

Two doctoral students will present the interdisciplinary research methodologies they have developed and applied within their research.

What you gain from it:

Learn about methods and approaches of various disciplines in a way that you can use it for your final project, term papers, Master thesis, etc. The interdisciplinary methodology tutorials should help you understand how and where to look for information, how to read the sources critically, how to make your study relevant and representative, what problems - methodological, ethical, legal or practical - might arise, and how to avoid/solve them, etc.

The attendance of these tutorials is on a voluntary basis (no ECTS class). To make this event as fun as possible and give all of you the chance to get in exchange with the doctoral students, and they in turn with you, we would like to end the event with a little party at the RCC.

Below, you'll find the program:

15:00-16:30: Noemi Quagliati: Cross-disciplinary method approach to military technology, landscape studies, and visual culture (https://www.carsoncenter.uni-muenchen.de/download/staff_and_fellows/projects/project_quagliati.pdf)
16:30-16:45: break
16:45 - 18:15: Sevgi Mutlu Sirakova: An Interdisciplinary Approach into Interspecies Encounters of Food (https://www.carsoncenter.uni-muenchen.de/staff_fellows/doktoranden/sevgi_mutlu_sirakova/index.html)
18:30: Party

If you are interested in attending our first tutorial, send an email to envstudies@rcc.lmu.de, and we'll put together a list of participants, which we will circulate together with the program in mid-January.
