Workshop Weekend on Alternative Agriculture

All students of the Environmental Studies Certificate Program are invited to join the Workshop on Alternative Agriculture that will take place from July 13-14 in the community garden of Certificate Student David Schoo in Karlsfeld.

SATURDAY: VISITING GARDEN AND AGRICULTURAL PROJECTS IN MUNICH AND SURROUNDING AREAS
In the morning the “Ökologisches Bildungszentrum München” and one of the following projects will be visited:
- Kartoffelkombinat: Solidarische Landwirtschaft
- Waldgärtner: Solidarische Landwirtschaft
- O´pflanzt is: Gemeinschaftsgarten
In the evening all students will arrive at David’s garden and make pizza with the vegetables, harvested beforehand. Before and after dinner there is the possibility to play volleyball and make a campfire. There is space to set up tents in the garden.

SUNDAY: COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECT IN KARLSFELD
There will be two talks about permaculture and edible wild herbs in the morning. Afterwards, the plan is to work in the garden. There are many things to do like weeding, mulching, fertilizing and harvesting. At 1 pm there is a lunch break with vegetables and herbs from the garden. In the afternoon the participants can learn how liquid manure from stinging nettles can be produced. A compost for vermicomposting and an insect/wild bee hotel will be build. The day ends at 6 pm, but everyone is welcome to stay longer and enjoy the evening in the garden.
