Elmar Ujszaszi-Müller received his bachelor’s degree in sociology and political sciences at Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. During an Erasmus semester at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca he encountered unprecedented protests against a gold mining project at the nearby village of Roșia Montană. This sparked his interest in the ambivalent connections between social and environmental issues and movements on the one hand and societies in a process of transformation—especially in the post-Sovietic ones in Southeast Europe—on the other.
Besides being enrolled in the Environmental Studies Certificate Program at RCC he is currently a master's student of sociology at LMU Munich. He likes good hikes and good food—preferably in this order.
