Michael Thompson is pursuing a master's degree in sustainable resource management at TUM, with focus on agricultural and forestry land-use systems. In 2011, he completed a bachelor's in mathematics and moved to Egypt, where he came into contact with community gardening. His collaboration led him to view agriculture as a tool for finding common-ground between individuals and across cultural landscapes. In 2012, he began a vocational farming program in a "living community" in Germany. During his participation in the Environmental Studies Certificate Program, Michael aims to further explore agriculture's potential for bringing people together. He believes that understanding this potential can help to answer the question of how humanity will rediscover its shared destiny with the natural environment.
