David Arndt, B.A.

Certificate Student
Sociology/Psychology

David is studying for a master’s degree in sociology and a bachelor’s degree in psychology at LMU Munich. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and carried out part of his studies in Vienna and Berlin. His academic interests focus on constructivism and phenomenology in various spheres, including clinical psychology and psychotherapy, as well as social conceptions of the environment and the boundaries between culture and nature. Within environmental studies, David's main interests are technical sociology, human-machine- interactions, and (critical) human-animal -studies. His academic work, including his bachelor’s thesis, has explored the opportunities and problems associated with embracing interspecies interactions and animals as social actors in social constructivism. Through the RCC’s Environmental Studies Certificate Program, his ambition is to learn about possibilities for reducing the gap between quantitative and qualitative approaches and for applying his theoretical perspectives ito practical action.
