Maya von Ahnen received her bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in philosophy at LMU Munich in 2021. Her interest in the Rachel Carson Center’s themes developed during her political work with environmental justice groups and was deepened when the Dannenröder forest occupation became central to the fight for the preservation of forests, water and soil in so called Germany. Her participation in organizing the journey of the Zapatistas through european geographies in 2021 (Gira por la Vida), shaped her understanding of the complex relationship of healthy soil, clear water, free lands and a good life. Currently she is pursuing her second bachelor’s degree in anthropology with a minor in history.
