M.Sc. Snata Chakraborty

Certificate Student
Anthropology, India
Evolution, Ecology and Systematics

Curious about human diversity and evolution in general, Snata did her B.Sc (2014) and M.Sc (2016) in Anthropology in India. Currently she is pursuing hers masters degree in evolution, ecology and systematics at LMU with a focus on behavioral ecology. Currently she is planning her master thesis in ecological drivers of collective behaviors like migration or foraging.

During various field works in India, indigenous knowledge and the use of environment and the causes and consequences of migration have always fascinated Snata. In the Environmental Studies Certificate program, she seeks to explore how global economic practices might be combined with traditions in rural and urban environments that promote development and sustain biodiversity, locally and worldwide. She believes if group behavior is understood and harnessed positively, human interference can conserve big ecosystems like the rain forests.
