Markos Panayiotou received his bachelor’s degree in Ethnology with a minor in Political Sciences at the University of Heidelberg in 2021. He is interested in examining human-non-human interactions among indigenous Amazonian communities. In his bachelor’s dissertation he focused on the ways indigenous Quichua groups of Ecuadorian Oriente perceived other animals and plants in their surrounding environment.
What is at issue for him is determining the long-term effects of human activity on other beings, as well as finding alternatives to conventional ways of practising agriculture and farming.
