Kilian Andres-Escayola completed a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich in 2016 and a bachelor's degree in economics in 2018 at LMU Munich. After having spent one year abroad in Uganda while co-founding a social enterprise on entrepreneurship training for university students, he moved to rural Zimbabwe for six months to build up a small-scale agribusiness based on the energy-water-food-nexus approach for a remote community. The experience made it clear to him that his passion lies in working with people towards a sustainable balance with nature, in which natural resources are used sustainably to sustain life. As closing the knowledge gap requires tackling many challenges, he started a master’s degree in environmental engineering at the Technical University of Munich in the summer 2020 and enrolled in the Environmental Studies Certificate Program at LMU Munich in the winter of 2020. Kilian specializes in resource and technology management in the tropics and subtropics, with a special interest in sustainable land-use and freshwater management, as well as interdisciplinary approaches.
